Participation is key

There are a few who willingly participate in every event or project that is announced in school; there are many who wait to be coaxed to participate, and some who prefer watching from the sidelines. Which category do you belong to? The first one, I hope, and here are reasons why you should raise your hand willingly every time an opportunity comes forth.

First, every event requires preparation. Preparation teaches you how to align with the objective and, in several events or projects, helps you learn how to work with a team. It is not only about the division of work; each member fills in a missing link in the form of insights or information that helps learn new things.

Second, participation makes you a little competitive, and that's a good thing. Your desire to stand out will push you to think about how to be unique in your presentation—whether it's in sports, cultural activities, or subject-related projects. This healthy competition will motivate you to research and practice hard, driving you to excel and stand out.

Third, when you participate, you will not hesitate to volunteer or express interest in newer projects or working on a team to achieve objectives. Your proactive nature will make you a sought-after team member, and your friendly conduct will make you an asset to any project. This sense of engagement and proactivity will open new opportunities for you.

So, the next time a project/event announcement is made, you know what to do…right? Just raise your hand.
