Math in Space: Solving Problems Beyond Earth

Space travel involves enormous distances and a commonly used mathematics methods like trigonometry are especially helpful to calculate the distances between planets, stars and galaxies  that are measured in millions and millions of miles. In fact, these distances are so large that distance  is often referred to in light years. Astronauts use math to calculate orbital trajectories, ensuring  spacecraft stay on course and return to Earth safely. For example, they must calculate how much fuel  is needed to reach the International Space Station or how to adjust their path if they encounter  obstacles. Math is therefore, the essential force behind successful space missions, guiding  astronauts, calculating trajectories, and enabling safe exploration beyond Earth.
